Official Contest Rules
Lang Business Cup Giveaway · Thursday, October 22, 2026
Organizer
The Lang Students' Association is the organizer of the Lang Business Cup Giveaway. Questions about the contest, this privacy notice, or withdrawing marketing consent can be sent to lsa@uoguelph.ca.
Event
The giveaway is held at the Lang Business Cup on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
Admission to the event is free. Free admission does not enter you in the giveaway. You must complete the entry form.
Eligibility
The giveaway is open to currently enrolled University of Guelph students who attend the Lang Business Cup on Thursday, October 22, 2026, follow @langstudentsassociation, and meet these rules.
Students under 18 may enter. This giveaway does not add an age restriction.
One eligible entry per person. A repeated email address or Instagram handle will not create another entry.
No purchase necessary
No purchase is necessary to enter or to win.
How to enter
Enter through the in-arena QR code, which opens this giveaway page. Submit your full name, your University of Guelph email address, and your Instagram handle, and agree to these rules.
Follow @langstudentsassociation on Instagram before you enter. The form records your confirmation. It does not check Instagram automatically.
Prize
One winner receives one Lang Hockey Jersey and one Uber Eats Gift Card, awarded together.
The approximate combined retail value of the two prizes is CAD $120.
Opening and closing
The organizer opens entries manually at the event.
Entries close at the beginning of the second intermission, when the organizer closes the giveaway. After it is closed, the form does not accept another entry.
Selection and odds
After entries close, an authorized organizer runs one draw. The draw uses a cryptographic random number to choose one index from the eligible entries. Each eligible entry has the same chance.
The odds of being selected depend on the number of eligible entries when the draw is run.
Verification
The selected person is a provisional winner. An authorized organizer announces that person over the public-address system as provisional and sends the notification email manually.
Before the game ends, the provisional winner must verify eligibility and claim the prize. Eligibility includes current University of Guelph enrolment, attendance at the Lang Business Cup, and following @langstudentsassociation.
If the provisional winner is under 18, the organizer does not confirm that winner until a parent or guardian has consented. The organizer records that consent. The entry form does not collect a parent or guardian's contact details.
Provisional and confirmed winner
A provisional winner is not the confirmed winner until enrolment and attendance are recorded as complete. If the provisional winner is under 18, a parent or guardian must also consent.
The public-address announcement describes the selected person as provisional until eligibility is verified and the prize is claimed. The person is the confirmed winner only after those steps.
Winner email
An authorized organizer sends the winner notification by email. The form does not send that email.
Alternate winner
If verification fails, or the provisional winner does not claim the prize before the end of the game, an authorized organizer marks that result ineligible.
The organizer then runs another draw with the same recorded random method. The pool is the remaining eligible entries. Each of those entries has the same chance. The draw stores the eligible entry ids, the pool hash, the selected index, the organizer, and the time.
The alternate is a provisional winner. The organizer announces that person as provisional and sends the notification email manually. The alternate has 24 hours from that notification to respond. The same eligibility requirements apply. If the alternate is under 18, a parent or guardian must consent before the win is confirmed.
If the alternate does not respond within 24 hours, or verification fails, the organizer may mark that result ineligible and run another recorded draw. The prize is not awarded twice.
A confirmed winner is not replaced by another draw.
Privacy and marketing
Personal information is handled as described in the Lang Business Cup Giveaway Privacy Notice.
Submitting an entry does not add you to a marketing list. Marketing email is sent only if you select the separate optional consent. That choice does not affect your entry or the draw.
Instagram
Instagram is not a sponsor of this giveaway, is not administering it, and is not associated with the prize. The Lang Students' Association is responsible for the contest.
